friend and former paddling instructor and Program Director at Camp
Chosatonga. He can provide a fine custom trip while you are in our

Rock Climbing: Our guides lead rock climbing trips for people 8 years old and up everyday all year long. We specialize in guiding and instructing beginner climbers, both individuals and groups. Our beginner climbs range from very easy 30' to 160' top-rope setups to more challenging routes. advanced climbing, technical instruction and multi-pitch climbing are also available. All of our trips are private instruction for just you and your family, friends or group. No one else will be on your trip. Where do we climb? Snakes Den Rock, near Asheville, NC. Looking Glass, Cedar and Cove Creek Rocks, near Brevard NC. We also guide at Crowder's Mountain, near Charlotte, NC and Look Rock, near Gatlinburg, TN. The weather for climbing is great this time of year: cool temperatures and sunny skies! Remember, we can often climb year around in NC, especially on sunny winter days!
Guided Backpacking: The Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC are rugged and beautiful, with over 25 summits exceeding 6000 feet in elevation. Bring your friends or make new ones on our scheduled 4 day backpacking trips, which are appropriate for beginners of all ages! Or schedule your own private trip (all experience levels). You will not need specialized equipment or experience for our scheduled trips. We provide skilled instruction, high quality gear and terrific food. Just bring your clothes and leave everything else up to us! We intend for our trips to be part wilderness tour and part backpacking clinic. You will have plenty of opportunities to learn and practice wilderness skills on our trips. Let our guides share their extensive knowledge and experience with you. We teach fundamental backcountry skills: use of map and compass, campsite selection, pitching a tent, low impact/leave no trace ethics, water purification, back country cooking and menu planning, proper gear selection and use, managing risk in the mountains, correctly packing and adjusting a backpack, proper clothing selection for the seasons and much more...
