Dupont State Forest  The forest encompasses 10,000 acres of hiking and mountain biking trails with over 90 miles of marked trails. Located in Henderson and Transylvania counties. The forest is open to the public for hiking, mountain biking, fishing (with a NC wild trout fishing license) and horseback riding (provide your own horse). Take trails to view some of the prettiest waterfalls in North Carolina including Hooker Falls, High Falls, Triple Falls & Bridle Veil Falls.  Located within 4 miles of the Black Forest.

WNC Mountain Biking An informative guide to some of the best mountain biking trails in Western North Carolina including the Dupont State Forest and the Pisgah National Forest.

Brevard Music Center  A premier summer music festival and comprehensive music center, Brevard Music Center provides intensive study for high school, college, and pre-professional musicians ages 14 and older, and offers a full range of concerts and operas with renowned artists. Chimney Rock Park This 1000 acre, privately owned park offers hiking trails, waterfalls, gift shop, special programs, rock climbing demonstrations, guided bird walks and more. You can purchase discounted tickets at the Black Forest Campground.

Transylvania County Tourism & Development Association Find out what there is to do in the Brevard area other than just waterfalls. You will find information on concerts, events, street dances and more.
Caesars Head State Park is an excellent park for nature enthusiasts and photographers. At 3,266 feet above sea level, Caesars Head provides a panoramic view of nearby valleys. Raven Cliff Falls, situated along one of the park's many hiking trails, is one of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States. Located 3 miles from the Black Forest.
Cradle of Forestry Birthplace of the Forestry System in the US. The Cradle of Forestry is a 6,500 acre forest with an outdoor activities center that includes two guided trails which lead you back in time to see seven historical buildings, a 1915 Climax logging locomotive, interactive exhibits and an old sawmill. Special activities are planned throughout many summer weekends.
Pisgah National Forest 501,691 acres stretch across the eastern edge of Western North Carolina's mountains. The Forest offers hiking trails, fishing, picnic sites, and spectacular waterfalls. Some of Pisgah National Forest's attractions include Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, Pisgah Forest State Fish Hatchery, Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education and The Cradle of Forestry.
Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education attractions include: an 80 seat auditorium, aquariums, an instructional video, hands on exhibits, garden display, children's programs, special events, group programs, viewing and feeding of hatchery trout and a gift store. The Center is open to the public daily, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. (Outdoor exhibits close at 4:30 p.m.). FREE admission
WNC Nature Center was developed to educate the public about the natural history and ecology of the Southern Appalachians. The Nature Center includes a "hands on" nature lab and an educational farm with a petting area, predator habitat, nature trail and an otter habitat. Children are invited to touch a corn snake, hold a turtle, or feel presheared angora.
Holmes Educational State Forest Offers a series of well-marked trails accented by exhibits & displays depicting the ecology of a managed forest. Visit the "Talking Trees". Picnic sites with tables and grills & a spacious picnic shelter are available at the Forest. Open Tuesday-Sunday from mid-March to late November.
The North Carolina Arboretum is a member of the University of North Carolina System and spans 426 acres. The Arboretum serves as a regional and international resource for education and conservation, and offers classes, workshops and nature walks for all ages. There is much to discover when you explore the Arboretum's many trails and state-of-the-art greenhouse. 
Western North Carolina Air Museum displays flight manuals and engines from historic aircraft as well as more modern reciprocating and jet engines, photographs of historic airplanes and pilots, and models of historic airplanes. 
Carl Sandburg Home This American poet and historian author spent the final 22 years of his long and productive life at his estate, Connemara, in Flat Rock, NC. Built in 1838, this National Historic Site offers a keen insight on Mr. Sandburg and his family on their 240 acre working farm. The site also houses his collection of 10,000 books, notes and papers. There are hiking trails and a functional goat barn. Admission is charged to view the house.
Flat Rock Playhouse: The State Theatre of North Carolina features comedy, musicals and American classic performances throughout the summer. The Playhouse is open from late-May through mid-October presenting matinees and evening performances Wednesday through Sunday.
Jim Bob Tinsley Museum houses one of the most extensive collections of western and local cowboy items ever assembled  by one person. Local native Jim Bob Tinsley has collected cowboy memorabilia, original art & photographs, bronze sculptures, sheet music & records of cowboy music throughout his lifetime. The Museum also houses his music awards and many books that he has written. Visit the Museum and enjoy a wonderful collection of western and local county items. Open from 10am - 4 pm Tues-Sat.

Headwaters Outfitters
A family owned canoeing, kayaking, and tubing livery which is located in Rosman NC, between Brevard and Cashiers. A unique way to explore part of the mountains! Closest river experience to the Black Forest. 

Southern Waterways
